普選面臨民主黨強敵 高頓造勢拉票

共和黨籍第22選區現任州參議員高頓(Marty Golden)將在11月普選中面對民主黨參選人郭納德(Andrew Gounardes)的挑戰，他6日在布碌崙(布魯克林)選區舉行競選造勢集會，不少華裔民眾到場支持，表示高頓為華裔群體發聲，在多項爭端議題中與華裔有相同價值觀。
高頓表示自2002年當選州參議員至今，在選區一直獲得眾多支持，「無論是來自民主黨、共和黨還是保守派的人，都能看見我秉持的信念和價值觀，也看見我的能力，知道我能為他們服務」。
不少華裔支持者到場支持。他的支持者周國東便表示，高頓在特殊高中錄取考試(SHSAT)、大麻合法化以及曼哈頓華埠建監獄等議題上，都與華裔社區站在一起，因此支持他繼續連任，為華人社區服務。
郭納德此次二度挑戰高頓，獲得州長葛謨(Andrew Cuomo)等強力背書，同比六年前實力大增；在席捲全州的「藍色風潮」下，該職位此次的普選競爭更顯白熱化，雙方呈現勢均力敵之勢。
同為共和黨籍的國會眾議員鄧諾允(Dan Donovan)，州眾議員瑪麗奧(Nicole Malliotakis)也到場支持，力保共和黨在紐約市為數不多的民選官員席位；高頓也是布碌崙區碩果僅存的共和黨籍州參議員。
